Rice Krispy Shot Shell

I would imagine the wad still hurts quite a bit and would do for an eye quite handily. As they say, it's all fun and games....

Shooting shotshells at targets backed by cardboard at various ranges (testing patterns, snake loads, etc.), I have found the over powder wads or plastic shot cups would probably break the skin and bruise at close range. And they'd put yer eye out, kid.

As a load to discourage pests from raiding your trash cans in the country, uncooked rice might qualify as a stinger load (less corrosive than rock salt), but puffed rice crispie cereal? The wad would hurt worse than the rice crispies.

I can assure you it will!

When we were kids someone came up the brilliant idea too cut the shot out of some .410 shells and have a wad war. Incredibly stupid as it was, they did it. I wasn't allowed to play, I was to young, just a miracle no one got killed.

One kid popped around a tree and got shot in the upper thigh and the wad went through his blue jeans and made a bloody, massively bruised mess. He also screamed like a little girl for about 5 minutes, that shot was probably only about 2-4 feet. If it would have hit about 6" to his right I suspect he never would have had children.... which come to thing of may have been ok, people that brilliant should strongly consider avoiding reproduction. I suspect a direct to an eye would would have easily gone further than an eye.

I'd like to see a pattern test on that shotshell. Wonder what size Rice Krispies are? #8? #6? maybe double aught Rice Krispies?

Out of a flare gun too. Idiot's lucky he didn't lose his hand.
CIL made 12 gauge blanks(had the word in big black letters on the shell too), long ago, that had a 2" wood fibre wad that'd go right through a 2 x 4 at 10 yards.

Next thing you know they will require a 3 day wait and background check to get a box of cereal.
That's just great....or should I say "Grrrreat!"
Yeah, when I read that the shooting took place in Eureka, California, I kinda figured Rice Crispy shotshells probably had something to do with the California ban on using lead ammo we've all heard about.:D
But at least I learned something new in this thread. In that link the OP provided, it said the Rice Crispy shotshell was fired in a "flare gun." I couldn't imagine that, as the only flare guns I knew about were the flare pistols we had in our choppers way back when, in another lifetime. But the flare pistols we had, had barrels that were probably well over an inch in diameter, and there's no way a person could fire a regular shotgun shell in one of them. So I did a Google search, and what do you know - even Wallyworld sells 12 gauge flare pistols! I swear, I learn something new everyday on this forum!:)

12 gauge flare guns are common in marine use, if you're anywhere near many miles of open water, like the ocean or the great lakes (I'm on Lake Ontario) . So I did a Google search on "Eureka CA" and guess what? It's on the coast..... There's probably a good number of flare guns in a coastal town with a lot of boats. Now I'm waiting to hear if California wants flare guns registered also. I'm surprised NY state hasn't started already.
