Well, I ordered one of these last night, 99% inletted apparently, $79US is a pretty damn good price I think.

Anyone have any experiences with them? Any advice for finishing a laminate stock? I've done wood stocks before but how the hell do you finish a laminate?

Dean's Gun Restorations uses Deftoil, and I got some of this for an Accurate Innovations laminated stock.

If you use enough coats, it creates a nice finish. 2 coats will seal the wood, but not create much of a shine.

I know this finish penetrates the wood and does not appear to interact with the glues stock manufacturers use when making laminated stocks. Also, it's easy to apply.

Check out "Deft and Deftoil" on the web for product details. I know DGR sells it in quarts.

Richard's is about 10 minutes from my house. I have bought several stocks from Charles. They are not drop-in stocks nor are they 99% complete. You will have to do some inleting to get the action and barrel to fit. With patience, you can have a beautiful stock.

I'm getting a safari monte-carlo style in grey/black laminate, I don't mind doing some fitting work for the price of it, $79US is practically free.

I hope I don't have to wait 6 months to get it though

Should I get them to fit a recoil pad?
