Part of the issue is something I browbeat out of my Ruger rep a couple months ago. Ruger bought Marlin, but all they got was an empty plant and nobody willing to work because of the unemployment buffs. Ruger transferred most of their skilled machinists to the Marlin plant to try and get it back up and running, and so gutted production of almost everything but their cheap little polymer 9 mils. Supply of Ruger wheelguns and even the Mark IVs is VERY low, and demand is driving the prices up. The other issue is crazy demand in the online sector for anything that can fire a bullet. Go to Gunbroker and look up H&R revolvers right now. I'm in the market for a little beater 632 for personal use and they're routinely bringing THREE TO FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS.
