Rifle Ammo..what's the most outrageous priced ammo that you have seen?

I've wanted a rifle in .338 Lapua for a while now, but besides the fact I can't afford the rifle, the ammo is generally around $50 per 20 of average ammo and $70 per so for good Black Hills stuff.

Reloading comes in handy there...

Some of the .300 & larger Weatherby Mag cals are $45/20 and up and up and up. . .

.45/70 for $38/20

.416 Rigby (??) $65/20

.458 Win Mag about $70/20

Since "outrageously priced" is relative to what you can afford....Anything that costs over 20 cents a round is expensive to my budget :D. As far as most expensive rounds, though....probably anything that is a now-defunct calibre that comes from Holland&Holland--but hey, you get what you pay for.

I don't remember the final selling price, but after it topped $150 I quit bidding.
This was for 1) 50 cal BMG Raufus round, there was a dutch auction on GB for 3 of them. I couldn't see sending $150 down range all at once.

Some of those crazy Lazzeroni ultra-mega-mega high-performance cartridges are upwards of 100-150 bucks a box.

Of course, I'm told you get an absolute crapton of bang for your buck.

Not too handy, brass is over a buck, and the .338 SMKs aren't cheap either.
It is however, a FANTASTIC round, one of my favourites. (I also own a barrett ;)

When I started holing 3/4" plate at 500yds, I knew this round was a winner. All in a package light enough to actually take with you. (AR-30 with scope weighs in at 14lbs. Not sporter, but actually somewhat portable unlike 35lb barrett.)
