What is the highest quality bipod you can think of for an AR-15? (If it is a swivel bipod that is a major plus). I was thinking about a harris swivle 12-25" adjustable.

I have a couple of Harris bipods, one with the swivel, and one without. I think they are well made, and I would buy another one. I don't know about others, but I think most of the time you do get what you pay for.

If you are going to buy one, and are turned off by the price difference between the swivel and standard, I would save and get the swivel. I didn't think I would really appreciate it that much when I bought my first one until I fired a gun that had a swiveling bipod. They are much nicer I think.

Also, think about how you are going to be positioned to do your shooting. If its off the bench a lot, 12" might be too high. It is for me personally, and the bench height of the ranges I usually go to.

If you get one thats not a Harris, let us know what you think of it.

I have a Harris. I will say that I don't admire them as much as a Versa Pod. The Versa Pod looks a lot cleaner on a rifle, too.

I found out that shooting tighter groups from a bipod is much easier if you ditch the swivel.

Yeah if you are shooting off of a bench. There is a lock for the Harris to lock the swivel out when you don't need to use it. I find the swivel feature is indispensable on uneven surfaces such as on the side of a hill.

I agree Edelbrock. I never knew how nice it would be to have one until I used one out prairie dogging. Well worth the extra money.

Besides, if I really want to shoot well off the bench, I use sandbags.

I have 3 Harris bipods, and 1 stony point, or something like that, and there is no comparrison. Harris all the way! I personally like the non swivel, with leg notches best, but if you buy the optional locking device, you'll be fine. I use the 6-9 off a bench, and 9-13 shooting prone.:)
