Rifle case lube...Your favorite?

One-Shot became my favorite two or three years ago. It's only advantage is ease of application, however you have to let it dry completely(far more than the 5 min. or so Hornady claims).I usually spray & wait at least 10-15 min, maybe even longer in humid conditions. It's not a good lube untill it's dry.

Over the last year I've tried quite a few lubes. In my opinion:

1) Spray lubes and the "bag method" work fine and fast for straight wall handgun cases.

2) Water based lubes (RCBS, LEE, etc.) work okay on smaller rifle cases.

3) Imperial sizing wax and the Kiwi mink oil work okay up to medium (308 size) size cases.

4) The very best lube I have found for larger cases is Rooster CFL-56, which was made to help in case forming. I use it now for all my rifle cases except 22 Hornet. Here's a link: http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=784839

It's not cheap, but that little jar will do 2000 or more 30-06 size cases.

I've tried Hornady One Shot and now prefer this. Gets high recommendations. I've had good luck with it. Appears to work like the Dillon pump spray.

UTG, thanks for that link. I suspect FA got hold of the formula for RCBS case slick, then started making this stuff. I just ordered some, seeing as how Midway has stopped selling case slick, and I'm running out!:fire:

All the reviews on the midway site are +. Five star rating says a lot!:D

Another vote for Hornady's Unique case lube, I use it on .50 brass and it works great. A friend that I reload with used Imperial until I had him try Unique, he even thought it worked better then Imperial.

Every time I buy some I get the same response of "this is the best kept secret in the industry". Plus it costs less then Imperial and you get about three times as much.

The people here recommending the use of a spray lube do realize he's asking about which lube to use on a 50 BMG case, right?

I had a 30-06 case get stuck when using One Shot, I can't believe it will work with a 50 Cal. case without getting stuck.

I want some more Hornady One Shot, but it is not as good as regular Lee case lube, just a lot faster.

I agree. I have never used the One Shot on large cases though.

The only stuck case I ever had was when using the Midway stuff!

Ed's Red on a cleaning patch. I swirl the case between my fingers and the patch, touch it to the case mouth for a little lube on the expander ball, and it works great.
