It looks like I will be leaving Commyrado for Columbia,South Carolina, and would like to continue pursuing my interest in long range shooting. I'm looking for a 500 yard or longer range within a couple hour drive. Anyone know a good range in the area?

Close to Columbia is Mid Carolina Rifle Club. They advertise a 200 yard range. The DNR ranges are usually 100yds. You can call Mid Carolina, number is 803-796-1009. E-mail is [email protected]. Hope this helps. I'll try to find more info about other ranges in SC.

Found yet another. It's in Georgia. The range is about 21/2 hours from Columbia. It's called Gunsite Hills. It's in Lexington,Ga. They have a 700 yd range plus other distances. Phone is 706-714-5568 and ask for Roger. E-mail is [email protected]. Website is gunsitehills.com. When are you moving to SC? Joe

Thanks for doing some research.I found the first two,but not the last one. It may be that I have to drive that far to shoot long range, but if that's what it takes I will. I may be able to set something up on the hunt club I will most likely be joining. One of the properties has a power line right of way that may be long enough if I can bring in some dirt for a backstop. I will have to do some checking around locally after I get moved in.One nice thing about where I live now is easy access to National Forest land and several good ranges fairly close.I won't be moving until November after my wife graduates.

There is a new place in Laurens, SC called "south carolina official training ground"; from what I can see it is a private club and they advertise 1000yds. Not sure exactly how far it is from Columbia. I have not been there yet.
