Now reloading only pistol , 380 , 38 spec.,40 and 45 . Thinking about trying loading for rifle, Rem. 30.06. Will be only loading for hunting . I understand that there are several more steps in rifle and pistol . What would you suggest , a single stage , since I am not in for quantity . I load for pistol on a Lee 4 hole turret. Thanks.

The Lee turret press is fine if it's the classic. I have done tons of rifle on mine. Rifle only has one step that pistol does not. Lubing the case. Go for it it's easy.

You will need a rifle powder charging die if you use the turret press.

I started handloading rifle on a single stage. I next purchased a Lee Classic Turret. I think you have the right press for rifle.

I pulled out the index rod and away I go.

The Lee Classic Turret is fine for loading rifle. Unless you are looking for an excuse to buy a single stage.

Really??
What about trimming?
What about chamfer/de-burr?
What about primer pocket swage (If Military Brass)?
What about cleaning the inside of the primer pocket?
What about de-burr inside of primer flash hole?

Rifle loading WILL take more steps than pistol loading if you are looking for accuracy..Bill.

Lol that's great and all.
But he said hunting not 1000+ yard shooting.

Also who or why would you clean primer pockets on rifle but not pistol.

Also I have trimmed pistol brass and if you trim you better de-burr and chamfer.

Also I have had 9mm brass with military primer crimps. Just as many as 30-06 cases.

I have never de-burred a primer flash hole before and seem to do fine at my 1000 yard private range.

Let's not over complicate this. In all reality for decades people reloaded with a Lee wack-a-mole set without a scale or tumbling brass or anything you mentioned and taken game since before you or I were born....

I have loaded with a wackamole and dipper as my grandfather started and tested accuracy to my surprise it was better than any Wal-Mart factory ammo could do.

So yeah OP take Billy Bob's advice with a few grains of salt...

The Lee Turret Press should work fine. You will need to lube your cases to re-size them, then remove the lube, trim them to length, and chamfer/debur. Then you can use the Turret Press for the rest of the operations...Priming, powder charging, bullet seating and crimping if you decide to crimp them. I would for hunting purposes.

No need for a new press. As others have said, just remove the indexing rod and use it as a single stage press.

BTW, I have never cleaned a primer pocket in my life and don't plan to start. And I routinely get sub MOA groups with most of my rifles (from a bench of course).
