I'd heard a lot about the RimfireCentral forums here on THR, so I thought I'd head over to do some research.

It turns out there are two sites going by the name RimfireCentral. One is ".com" one is ".net". I was rather surprised to say the least. Very similar layout, almost identical in fact. But the ".net" one has lots of disclaimers about no mods, no banning and it refers to "other" rimfire sites in a pretty hinky way. I came across it first and thought it was the original, which led to confusion.

So *** is going on here? Which place have I been referred to, and who is ripping off whom?

I don't know about either of them but I do like the idea of a forum where the threads are completely uncensored. I really hate spending a good 30 to 45 minutes coming up with an ingenious response to thread only to find that it has been closed because some mod came by and didn't like the thread or didn't feel it was relavent to firearms. :banghead: [Rant off]

Idea: at least have an uncensored section in the forums where threads can be movet to rather than just axed all together.

Yes, rimfirecentral.com is the one that I know.

The other is a redirect to ruger22.com which appears to be run by cheapgunparts.com which gurarantees that I won't do any business with them. I have a strong distaste for that sort of foolishness. It can also be reached with the name gunsandfun.com and several others.

The .net version was done as part of a hissy fit when a couple of troops were
kicked off of the .com version. No real loss to the .com version. The .com version
is probably the best site out there for rimfire shooters, particularly if you like
click-clacks. :)

rimfirecentral.com is an excellent forum. It is a rimfire shooters forum, in the true sense of the words. There are no general, political, or current events boards. Just lots of good information about rimfire shooting, gear, and a wealth of great people who participate.:D

I have long been a fan of the original rimfirecentral.com

I have learned a lot about .22 rifles, pistols, scopes, etc. there from some great folks. Enough so that I am a paying member. Reading or registering on the board is free, just like THR, but I have learned so much there that a $20 contribution a year is WELL worth it to keep things going.

The other version, I believe, was begun by some folks who got ticked off at the moderators awhile back. See above explanations.

.com is great, .net were thrown off for breaking rules and could not see moraly why they were wrong.
