Rhode Island has a few new Anti-Guns Bills coming their way.

Increased Taxes on Ammo and Firearms, money to be distributed to Non-Profits like the Brady Campaign.

Assault Weapons ban.

Magazine limits.

Change from "Shall Issue" to "May Issue".

DV Misdemeanors to "Prohibited Person" status.

With over 62% of the citizens of RI supporting Obama, it looks like these will pass with little opposition.

Then why weren't these bills passed last year? Not that RI citizens shouldn't be wary and be emailing there reps, but talking about all these like its a sure thing when RI failed to pass similar legislation last year in the wake of Newton seems a bit premature.

I was afraid this was coming. RI'ers Need to write their reps! We're surrounded, don't let our anti 2A neighbors swallow our state!

Again, proof we can't rest on our laurels and think the fight won. They got us in Colorado now the scum is moving on RI and trying their damndest in New Hampshire. They'll get us one by one unless we stand united and start getting organized and active.

We crushed these bills last year but we are not letting our guard down. Interestingly though, the RI Supreme Court has been very good to us.

The revenues would be taken from gun owners and distributed to “nonprofit organizations whose mission includes a commitment to the reduction of crime and violence.” In others words, they want to tax law-abiding gun owners and give the money to anti-gun groups such as the Brady Campaign which purports to reduce crime and violence while it only targets lawful gun owners and one’s right to self-defense!

Can they take tax money and give it to an advocacy group?

Done all the time with tobacco & alcohol money. It'll even get spin it as a public/private partnership and not duplicating services offered in the private sector

Just scary to hear this stuff. I understand what you say about Obama supporters, but no matter who you supported one would hope that people could could be objective, rational and use their heads... obviously too much to hope for.

I think what really saved out butts last year is the fact that RI is so small, so every rep and senator must have gotten dozens of calls from folks that live within a mile of them. They're not so eager to screw folks that drive by their houses everyday, or shop at the same grocery stores.
