I don't know if this is a popular sentiment around here but I get a kick out of making a road trip specifically to get a rifle.
I guess it's because the first time I did it was an all-nighter to Alabama from Central Texas to get a Garand at the CMP. Played some cheap slots and saw the battlefield at Vicksburg, and came home with an grimy, sweet-shooting piece. What's not to love?
Since then I've been to Dallas to get a first-year Remington 760 that's as accurate as I can shoot it. Took in the lake view by the Garland Bass Pro Shop over a pint served by a lovely girl...
I've also driven up into the Hill Country for a CZ-52, but that was pretty tame.
Tomorrow looks to be something of an adventure across parts of the state I haven't navigated before, but that's half the fun!
Anyone else have any rifle road trip stories? (pistol road trip stories OK too I guess )
