Robbers ram store, find woman prepared

Rumor here in NC has it that the rifle was an SKS. A fact that wasn't mentioned in the popular press.

If it's true, we have documentation that "Assault Rifes" aren't all evil instruments of the devil himself.

I'll dig deeper and find out. This one's close by...in neighboring Montgomery County.

Good thing the poor woman was the store owner and not the employee of some of the shop-n-robs or pizza deliveries. I understand some of these business will fire an employee who defends him/herself?

Thank goodness this ended positive.

So far, it seems to have been a SKS...which have fallen under the assault rifle description over the last few years...so it still applies.

Now, we wait to see if there's an outcry over the lady's choice of such a highly lethal weapon instead of something more...gentle.

I got a buck that says it'll happen.

I have seen, more than once, reports of elderly people losing control of their vehicles for various reasons and plowing into the front of a store. I even missed seeing it one time merely by looking in the opposite direction. There is almost always ONE person in the vehicle when this happens. Not two, and not non-elderly males.

My guess is that instead of getting out of their vehicle and apologizing, they started looting. It also wouldn't surprise me if it was on videotape.

I have to chime in on this one.

If the reports say the police released a statement that the couple in the car used their vehicle to try to rob the store, then that takes out the medical cause. POlice are pretty reluctant to make public statements about any cause, it seems. When they do, they must have something.

Second, the name sounds like Thai, Cambodian, or Laotian, I guess. Not sure. As one poster sated, SE Asian women in their mid 30s and older are easily from the Vietnam-conflict era; they react pretty quickly.

I think it was rather interesting the convenience store owner had a rifle on hand. For one reason or another, a handgun was not under the counter. good thing, too. The rifle round probably allowed the penetration through the glass and metal of the car, although nothing is specified about where the shots went.

I think it is probably a 10-rd stripper clip loaded magazine if it is an SKS. Again, just guessing. It would be rather hardcore if the police arrived and saw a little Asian woman with a rifle with a banana magazine sticking out, smoke steaming from the barrel and shell casings all over the ground. I doubt the justified self-defense report would have been allowed in that scenario.

I guess such a defensive firearm would be needed if that coveneience store were robbed before. Not sure where the store is located, or what kind of neighborhood, but I guess that store owner was not going to be a victim of any sort.

In a case like this, The NRA should promote the value of a defensive firearm against marauding attackers.

Why would anyone wreck a car to rob a store?

I can't see the net profit unless the car was stolen.

I've read in a few books that the asian languages can sound sweet and poetic when friendly and downright evil when hostile. The cultures are for the most part the same way. Loyal friends, deadly, almost fanatical, enemies.

And that's pretty damned hardcore IMO. You just got ran over by a freakin' car, and you jump up, find your rifle, and return fire.

She was taken to a hospital for injuries sustained after the building partially collapsed on her.
Some days it does not pay to get out of bed!

Usually is stolen, and they ram the store due to the doors being locked.

There have been a couple I personally know of where I lived in NOVA. One was a 7-Eleven, they tried to steal the ATM. The other was a gun store.

If you watch those 'World's Scariest' type shows, every now and then you'll see a van backing into the doors.

Been doing that since gun rights became the spotlight of the nation.

Should visit NRA.org more often. Read their daily/monthly bulletins. They spend much more time out there fighting for our rights than talking, thats why we seldom hear a lot from them.

:cool:Cool!.. Sorry bad guys!

Here in SC we do not have the "duty to Flee" rule!

Actually we have article six which is the opposite!

Which literally means: BadGuys! Screw with people at your own risk!:)

and the reason you need a larger caliber for a chevy is you need more impact on the soft rusty portion, which is usually near the front.....rear.....side.....back.......top....... never mind the rusty portion! :neener:

but you would need say a BMG .50 to stop even a Ford Ranger (considered small game!) but very resilient to even high gas prices. :D
