Wow, did not know my thread got locked. I'm starting this thread strictly for those owners questioning shooting 5.56 ammo through the Rob arms barrel marked .223/m96 rifles. Just got a reply today from Rob arms, what they told me....

All of our barrels whether they are marked .223 or 5.56 are designed for both .223 and 5.56 ammo. We have never made any barrels that could not shoot the 5.56 round. We often had to mark .223 for export purposes.

This thread is to not debate the .223 vs 5.56/ RA m96 barrel
Now time to head to the range, see how see shots:)

Shooting 5.56 in a .223 is one of THRs favorite [strike]debates[/strike] arguments. Not your fault.

Glad you got an answer from the manufacturer. :)

Good for you ifit! Robinson's answer makes perfect sense considering the nature of their product. Please post the results of your shooting. The M96 is an interesting design that I all most bought a copy of myself so I would like to experience it vicariously through you if you don't mind.:)

Yes rob arms very helpful responding to my emails .

NDF, will post range results...25y,50y, but 100y might be a little while need to get on some private land. Did you say interesting design? Getting myself familiar with the rifle, went from this....

At the time in think they sell the correct conversion kits, as my front and rear sight is useless, but hey put some tracers in there would b fun

Just out of curiousity, is there an advantage to a Bren-style feeding arrangement? Any particular reason the Bren was made the way it was? Does gravity somehow help with the feeding?

First time at the range with the m96, shots were sitting with a front bag to sight in. The weight of the rifle plus long piston recoil shooting .223/5.56 is almost none existent compared to my other rifles, good trigger, little front heavy...reminds me of my BM ACR, not bad.
25y poa at 6 o'clock

50y 1st shot w/25y zero...way high, then adjusted for next 5shot (marked in blue) adjusted again for next 10 shot group. not the best shot but she shoots ok:)

Low lay height, change mags without raising the weapon and keeps those squirrely "lefties" away from the cool gun. Back to your Enfield, oddballs!
