Still good buy for the money though they have gone up a bit over the years. Well made and with numerous models to choose from I think you've made a great choice with your first 1911.

I don't know what dovetail they use. Dawson makes a FO for it. Maybe they would make you a plain blade.

Or you can do what I do. A drop of Super Glue at each post where the FO goes through, and I have not had one kick out since.
So just a drop on each side, do I have to take the fiber optic rod out first? Thanks!

A friend of mine has the same one as the OP posted. He has had it for 2 years and shot it quite a bit. He has had no problems and the guns a great shooter.

I have had a Tac II 45 for about 2.5 years. I put about 1,500 round through it. It has been back to NV twice for several items. But for the most part, it was repaired. The only thing that is still a nagging issue is the case ejection lands forward of the gun. Therefore, I have difficulty at a range retrieving my spent cases.

The gun is dead on accurate, and has just the right features. As far as ammo goes, it does not like flat point bullets or semi-wads very much. I simply love the gun though and do not regret buying it. I bought mine from an LGS that I do not do business with anymore. Most of the people in there are a bunch of jerks. It was my first 1911 and I needed help with field strip and reassembly. The open plug caused me problems. Not anymore.

Long term, I think you will be very pleased with it. Even if you have a little break in issue . I will probably never sell mine. I paid 589.00 for mine. At the time, it was an ok deal. Not fantastic. But, OK.

I own a RIA M1911A1-FS and the Tisas Zig M1911-A2. I paid $350 for the RIA and $360 for the Tisas. The Tisas IMO is a WAY better 1911 for the same price. The finish on the lower end RIA 1911s is not that good.

Get a Tisas over a RIA 1911.

You'll find a ton of information on them by using the search function.

I have the basic GI 45 and it has been solid. You will find few people have anything negative to say about them. When they do, if you dig a bit it is because they have no real experience and are making assumptions based on their price and place of MFG.

Okay guys, that settles it then. I went ahead and ordered the RIA 1911 I mentioned in my OP. God willing, I will have it sometime early next week. Thank you all so much for your help. Hopefully it will be as good as you all say it will be. Thanks!!

Have owned 2 in the past. True what most others have posted. They are a fairly consistent, reliable pistol. I only had one part fail in the 5 years I own the 2 I had (Govt model & commander). The disconnector broke on the full size. Easily replaced and I was back at the range the following day. When the 10 is in my price range I will put it in my safe.
