Hi Ive been searching the forums and cant find the info im looking for so I figured Id ask. I have a RIA 1911GI and Im interested in getting a caspian slide http://www.caspianarms.com/ made for it. Im not sure which slide style will work or if either will since they offer colt series 70 and 80 style slides that are drilled for .38super firing pins that should just be a matter of changineg the firing pin though. Any technical info on the RIA would be appreciated and have a great day everyone.

Thanks for the info its much appreciated now I just need to decide if I really want to spend almost more then I paid for the gun on a slide lol

you don't have to......RIA and their associates make nearly every caliber available and also slides and frames.....get in touch with them, tell them your goal, and the rodeo will begin -
now, as far as quality, function, reliability, and service, they CAN NOT be beat.....sure , Colt may be prettier, but at twice the price? nope !
you can build/put together any flavor imaginable, get it finished any way you like, and never look back......

thanks for the info and id have to agree with you on the price and quality ive never had a problem with my RIA I never knew they did any sort of custom work or anything though

The RIA is a series 70 copy

For sure, except that, like all copies of the series 70, it doesn't have that collet bushing. That may be obvious to everyone, but I was confused about it for a long time.

What I want to know is whether there is any other difference between a Series 70-style pistol and a pre-Series 70 style, and whether the distinction "series 70" in a clone means anything other than "pre-Series 80".

In modern - but incorrect :banghead: - usage, Series 70 vs. Series 80 refers to non-firing pin block (original design) vs. trigger-actuated firing pin block, respectively.
