I should be taking delivery soon. The previous owner has mentioned that the magazine that came with the gun doesn't feed all that well (except Blazer).

If you have one of these do you have problems?

I'll be buy two or three new mags anyway. I'm looking for recommendations for new mags for it.

I like my RIA 1911 .45acp. I'm hoping the 9mm will be as good.

Thanks

Tom

The Metalform 9mm 1911 mags from CDNN work great in our 5" RIA "Tactical" 9mm and our Taurus PT1911 9mm. My RIA 9mm came with a Checkmate magazine and its worked 100%, The two mags that came with the Taurus also work fine in either pistol.

Haven't see the 4" 9mm RIA yet, does it have the ambi safety, better sights, and beavertail of the "Tactical" model?

I owned a new RIA 9mm tactical for less than a week. Put 410 rounds through the factory checkmate mag, and had zero stoppages. No break in period needed with that gun. I think the factory checkmate mags are great. I've heard the best 9mm 1911 mags are Tripp Research.

I would have kept it if I didn't find the CZ sp01 in stock at the local store.

In my 9mm 1911, metalforms and checkmates have fed reliable so far. I have a Mec-Gar that feeds fmj's fine, but will only feed PDX1's for hollowpoints. Dunno why, just does what it wants.

Well,

My new RIA GI 9MM arrived today at the LGS.
As we pulled it from the wrapper it was dripping with preservative oil.
All present agreed that its an amazing piece of kit for <$400.
No sharp edges anywhere on it, so my hands should be happy.
The gun came with a CheckMate mag. CheckMates are all I use in 45s with great results. Expect the same performance here.
Got it home and disassembled for cleaning and inspection.
Stoned a couple of rough spots inside, that''s all the work it needed.
Toned down the billboard logo on the slide with cold blue.
I have a set of Raasco grips inbound for a grippier grip.
Should be good to go. Don't need or want ambi-safetys, beavertails or other blingy stuff.
Leaving on a trip in the morning, so range report and pictures will have to wait until next week.

Looking forward to your report as I am considering the same pistol. Does it have a bull barrel or is the barrel cylindrical and use a barrel bushing in the slide?

The 9MM gun has a standard 1911 barrel bushing.
Wondering about the fitment, this morning I test fitted the Ed Brown bushing from another 1911.
It was only a slight bit tighter than the RIA bushing.
After the first couple hundred rounds to settle everything in, I plan to install the Brown one and do a comparison test.
