Cerakote is better than Duracoat. (It requires heat treatment, which is optional for Duracoat.) Duracoat does have optional hardening agents which make it better. Neither of themy are going to hold up as well as something like Tenifer.
The advantage of Duracoat, is that it's versatile and easy. Anyone can buy a HVLP sprayer and a cheap air compressor from Harbor Freight and learn to do it. If it scratches or wears...do it again. If your wife wants Pepto-Bismol colored accents, (mine absolutely does not, btw,) it's a Saturday project, no big deal. You might think of all kinds of things to color in your garage.
Mine don't wear much, I find I baby my gear, including stuff I took to Iraq.
