Last week I bought a RIA 1911A1, and I've got to say I'm very impressed!
Over the years I've owned 8 other 1911s (pre-70 Series Colt GM, Colt 70 Series GM 9mm, Colt WW2 1911A1 repro, SA Mil-Spec stainless and parkerized, Kimber Stainless Target II 9mm, Dan Wesson Pointman Major 9mm, and a Argentine Sistema) and I'd venture to say that the RIA that I paid $360 for (which included S&H) is by far the best value 1911 I've ever owned/seen. The only mod. I've made to this excellent 1911 is to replace the factory wood grips with checkered brown plastic grips (the WW2 type).
In fact, I'm so impressed with my RIA, that I'm thinking about getting a Commander Model in 9mm.

Which brings me to a few questions. First, I'm assuming that the RIA Commander model has a steel frame, like Colt's Combat Commander, is that assumption correct? Second, where can I find a RIA Commander in 9mm (or even .45acp or .38 Super for that matter)? I searched GB and AA, but found no RIA Commanders listed. Is the RIA Commander available here in the USA, or am I about to be sadly disappointed?....
