Can anyone recommend a good one piece .30 cal cleaning rod?
Brass, aluminum, or coated?
What's safe for bore?

Thanks

Any of the three will protect your bore. I have found the brass and aluminum rods to be too fragile for use over the long haul.

Two good rod companies:

J Dewey Manufacturing

Tetra Gun Prosmith

I own both and prefer the Dewey rods because of their much faster ball bearing movement and easier to grip handle. My buddy, who also has both, likes the Tetra Gun ones more.

YMMV,

Dave

I have a .22 and a .30 cal Dewey. If one of them ever needs replaced, I'll replace it with another Dewey.
I know a guy who has a Tetra and a coated Pro-Shot. They are also good rods, but I like my Deweys.

Stay away from aluminum rods. They are soft and will pick up grit tha will then act like sandpaper in your bore. I think brass is the same way but to a lesser extent. Coated and carbon fiber rods seem to be most popular among competitive shooters. Stainless rods are also good because they won't pick up grit, but you gotta use a guide with them.
