What do you all think of brass cleaning rods? I know aluminum and steel rods (especially sectioned ones) can wreak havoc on bores. Brass is pretty soft stuff, and I've yet to hear about a chamber that was worn out because of brass cases. I'm using a Dewey one piece brass rod on my rifles.

It seems the softer non ferrous metals, aluminum, brass, monel, etc. have the likley chance of a peice of harder metal becoming embeded in the softer rod metal, and not noticed, scratching the bore.
One peice stainless, very hard, or non-metalic, carbon fiber, have less of a chance of this happening.

Brass is what I use for my guns, it was recommended by 10 Ring precision, one of 2 Anschutz Licensed gunsmiths in the nation.

Someone in another post posited a good question, that is; Ok, if all that bad stuff is in your barrel and you're worried about embedding it in your cleaning rod and damaging your barrel; what about the next round you send down the barrel, working the stuff into the lands/grooves with a hard copper jacketed bullet followed by high-pressures and full-temp flames? I thought it was a pretty good question. Whaddya think?

I don't think the shooting a a rifle causes enough metal to be deposited
that could scratch a bore , copper , lead brass, gun powder, and primer material, are not hard enough.
Some times after tuning in a rifle I clean mine at the range getting ready for another string , how do I know if the person using the bench before hasn't emery or crocus cloth a rusty lever on his '94 deer rifle and left that on the bench to be picked up by my brush or patch and run down the barrel of my rifle or imbeded in the soft metal rod. Whaddy You think?
