If we can get past the $ 900 price tage on these pistols - I have a question.

Has anybody fired one of these things extensively? I've heard reports that the KT P3AT can be punishing on the hands. Wouldn't the R9 (ie 9mm round) be just as tough -or more so?

It is definitely tough on the hands. I usually wear a padded shooting glove when using it on the range. Even with that you don't want to shoot it for extended periods. That being said, I do like it for its intended purpose, a 9 mm pocket carry gun.

I have read also that with extended shooting, say 150 rds or so, the gun gets VERY dirty and due to it's tight tolerances, will start jamming.

I tested one of the first ones out, it did bite a bit, but it is not for extended shooting.... made for the pocket, and covers that base very well...I like the thought of a 9 in pocket size... as for shooting it 150 times... without cleaning, that would be a hard one to imagine. the price should be down a bit by summer, the way I understand it.

I have a Rohrbaugh R9. The recoil is less on the R9 than on my Kel-Tec P3AT. It is an excellent pocket gun.

No experience, but it may be similar to the small Kahr 9mm.

Really, you just might have sold me on one. I've been going back and forth about ordering one, so I guess I need to visit the local R9 dealer and talk money.
