I ran across a Rolling Block, carbine size, rifle chambered in 44 Special. 44 Special was stampted on top of the barrel. I could find no other information stamped on the receiver or barrel. The dealer had no other information. The rifle is in excellent condition. Looks new. If it is a project gun someone did a really good job because it looks brand new. Does anyone know who may have built, imported or modified and sold a Rolling Block carbine in 44 special? Price was reasonable. I at first thought it was 44 magnum which may have pushed me to buy it. Although 44 special may be fun for short range plinking. Can't think of much else it would be good for. If anyone has any ideas about where this firearm may have originated, thanks in advance.

You might look up Navy Arms rolling blocks as I recall they made some chambered in pistol cartridges, ala .357 mag. Don't know if that is any help or not, just something I recall.

Very likely a gunsmith built custom job on a surplus action.

Anything built by a factory in recent memory would have to have manufactures or importers info on it somewhere according to law.
