Romanian SAR-1 Question

Yeah, you definitely want the single hook.

My SAR-1 (got it for $279 + transfer fee back when AIM had them on sale) had straight sights and no trigger slap, but it has the dreaded soft hammer. That's right, crappy heat treat. I'm going to drop in one of the Tapco G-2 kits pretty soon. Just letting this one slowly deteriorate and getting all my money out of it. :D

I also put some aftermarket, US made synthetic stocks on mine, as well as a new rear sight that is adjustable for windage as well as elevation.

Thanks for all of the great info. I am going to try and get by the shop sometime this week and check the gun out. I just happened to see it last time I was there and didn't get a chance to mess with it.

Another question regarding trigger slap. What EXACTLY causes this and is there a way to visually inspect the trigger group to determine if it is a problem?

Thanks again.

You can read about (with illustrations and solutions) it here.

From the link above -

Trigger Slap is caused by out of spec Fire Control Group parts, specify it occurs when the rifle's bolt recoils hits the hammer which in turn moves down and locks under the disconnector. When the hammer moves the disconnector so It can be locked into place ready for the next shot, the back of the disconnector catches slightly on the trigger and causes it to "slap" back against your finger. This can cause pain and discomfort when shooting.

Or forego the SAR-1, spend $15.00 more, and get 10 Russian M44s!!! :what:

Sorry folks... I just saw SOG's website for the first time... :D
