Some of you will be acquainted with Ron Hood, knife maker and designer of the recently released Buck Knives/Ron Hood collaboration, the Buck Hoodlum.

Sadly, Ron Hood has left us. Also, in another thread is a message from his wife.

If you made it to the recent BLADE show, you may have run into him there.

The linked thread has pictures of him with some of the attendees.

I didn't know him, heck, I didn't even know *of* him until a couple of weeks ago when I learned of the new Buck Hoodlum.

Ron and his new knife are shown here, speaking at a Buck Collectors Club Int'l meeting:

Now the weird bit: evidently my wife has some contact with Ron's wife through some of her "preparing for a rainy day" research. When I told her about Ron, she looked at me funny and said, "I think I just got an email from his wife." And, sure enough, she had.
[Hi, Mrs Greebly],

Ron's at Smokey Mountain Knife Works Store in Sieverville, TN today and tomorrow.

Tomorrow night (Tuesday June 14th) he is on their show called "Tactical Knives TV"

He'll be talking about the Buck/Hoodlum blade and some other cool stuff

Dish Network Channel 224
Direc TV Channel 320

11pm-12am EST
8pm-9pm Pacific Time

Hope you can tune in!

Blew me away.

A moment of silence, if you please, for a man whose art was worked in steel.

RIP, Ron Hood.

The guy had a lot going for him IMO, the Buck Hoodlum is destined to be a classic.

I just learned of Ron through a video I watched on TNP about the Buck knives at Blade Show 2011. He was character and I learned from his recounting of how the Hoodlum was designed. RIP Ron.

Great guy , hung out with him at SHOT show for a few years and helped him pass out copies of his magazine this past year.

His presence on this earth will be missed , thoughts and prayers are with Karen and all of Rons family and friends during the celebration of his life.

I received a call from a colleague telling me of Ron's death. He'll be greatly missed in the bushcraft community.

Sounds like he may be another soldier who died in Vietnam didn't know it at the time. Sorry to hear about his passing. I was a fan and will miss him.

Mr Hood earned my everlasting respect when he quit a easy gig as a technical adviser for Man VS Wild. For true men honor means more than cash.

The bushcraft/survival community has lost a great man. His shoes will be tough to fill.

Rest In Peace Mr Hood.
