Ronnie Barrett is the man

Barrett Rifles are as American as apple pie.

I don't think Mr. Barrett will be going in front of congress telling them how no person needs a magazine that holds more than 10 bullets unlike certain *cough Ruger cough* gun makers.

Well then please "splain" why the LAPD and so many other departments have them in inventory ? From the POV of a PD "Ma Deuce" would be a far better investment in that caliber, IMO.

I agree most sniper shots by PDs are under 100 yds. And most targets are "soft", i.e. vulnerable to a .308 round. FTM most of what might be considered a "hard" target for PDs is vulnerable to a 12-ga slug. If not by penetration, by blunt force trauma. >MW

SoloFlyer, thanks for the Wiki info, I thought it smelled like BS, and since The Brady Bunch and the VPI came out saying it happened, now I KNOW it's a lie. Have those delusional morons EVER told the truth? I don't think so either!

I went to the Barrett website to try and find a ballpark price on the REC-7, but all it says is to contact your local dealer. Anybody got an MSRP? It sure looks nice!

Barricaded subjects. Fortified positions. EOD. Disabling vehicles with confidence. Application with far greater precision than is possible with M2.

"~$2,600 MSRP"

Looks like I'll be buying a hat.......... I just can't justify giving up food AND utilities for a year, no matter HOW cool it looks. :uhoh:

But Ronnie is STILL da Man!

Oh, I spent an hour last night trying to track down the 60 Minutes" interviews with Clint Smith and a few other "right-thinking" folks........they've apparently pulled them. Don't want that kind of crazy talk to be accessible to THE CHILDREN!

Mr. Barrett is indeed a fine fellow.
Put the bad guys under the ban and tells tehose on teh edge that he will do the same for them.

I just wish that people on this board were as supportive of EVERY firearms manufacturer or dealer that take this stance.

Back in June I posted my little action against Kali and I have to tell you that 40% of the posts were not supportive of refusing to do business with Kali

Come on people. get with the plan.
If it's good enough for Ronnie, and good enough for Sam, it's good enough for you!

These things are hard to make a success of when we are together,, they can't work at all if the weak simps in our own tribe won't support it.
Off of yer dead @$$ and on yer dying feet. Lets get them bluebellies on the run.

Sam

Sure is nice to see a firearms manufacturer like Barrett value civilians unlike some other snobbish manufacturers.

Ronnie Barrett & Co.

Having taken the armorer's course for his products, I can also pass along that his company also SOLICITS input from users/customers as to what THEY think would make these great rifles better. More companies in America should follow suit in this respect as well.

The history of innovation has shown us (especially in the field of firearms) that the home "tinkerer" is FAR more innovative than any goverment entity.
Not having to wade through miles of unnecessary red tape allows creative minds the leeway they need to REALLY get it done.

Nate, that reminded me of the book about Carlos Hathcock, "Marine Sniper" He actually slapped his sniper scope on the M2's that were on hand and used them for precision sniping. Apparently the cyclic rate is slow enough that he could squeeze off single shots.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlos_Hathcock
In 1967 Hathcock set the record for the 20th century's longest combat kill with a Browning M2 .50 BMG machine gun mounting a telescopic sight. The distance was 2,286 meters or 1.42 miles. Hathcock was one of several individuals to utilize the Browning M2 machine gun in the sniping role. This success led to the adoption of the .50 BMG cartridge as a viable anti-personnel and anti-equipment sniper round. Sniper rifles have since been designed around and chambered in this caliber.

The M82A1 is at the top of my list of guns that I would really like to get.

Actually, the M2 has a semi-auto selector. With the heavy barrel, it's actually a pretty accurate gun when fired in single shots.

i hope Mr. Barrett will send a letter to NJ

i hope Mr. Barrett will send the same letter to NJ. i doubt it will do any good considering all the politicians are idiots.
they are getting ready to ban the evil .50 because some terrorist MIGHT use it.

When I was stationed at Fort Knox, KY, our unit had to send our 3 M82's to barret to have some work done. Well instead of sending the rifles our unit decide that due to the close proximity we would drive them down ourselves. I was one of the lucky SOB's that had the pleasure of going to the company. I can tell you this, I have never been to a company where they invite you into the work area give you the penny tour and let you hang out with the person doing the repairs while they are being done. That is one of them experiences that will live with me for the rest of my life. every person in that company was friendly, and courteous.

I commend them for having principles and standing behind them 100%. Also for building one of the best rifles I have ever shot.
