Hey fellas, I'm interested in finding out the age on my Rossi carbine, based on I'm assuming, it's serial no.

I've looked for this information before but haven't found anything definite. Anyone here know any tricks?

I've always guessed my rifle to be from the 60's or 70's based on how it looked when I got it - just general patina etc., but I would love to be able to nail it's age down more precisely, even if it's just down to the decade.

Google came up fruitless. But come on, with how many Rossi boys are out there, I can't be the ONLY one has thought about this

I own a Wossi 92,a Winchester clone, mine is 2010 production, guess there ain't much collector interest.

Once they pass the 100 year mark in production you might see a club start up and be able to find such details.

I bought a 357 Rossi in 1993 used. It has a saddle ring on the receiver. The next year I bought another in 45lc and it does not have the ring. The workmanship in the 357 is much nicer than the 45. The 45 was bought as cowboy action was starting to get very popular so Rossi was cranking them out faster, thus more shoddy workmanship. That should give you an idea of a time frame....chris3

That's an interesting concept Ball3006. My carbine likewise is a saddle ring model, which I understand is pretty rare these days.

Additionally, my rifle is also definitely very high-quality and very nicely finished. I haven't seen any modern productions to compare it to, but from reading others' reviews and looking at pictures, I've been led to believe the model I have is a little more finely fitted than the newer ones, like you described.

It's also in .357. Sounds like we might have the same gun.
