Exdetsgt, if you figure out an easy way to mount a sling, please post it. I'd like to have a sling on mine, but would prefer to not drill holes in the wood.

I got one of those shot gun scabbards that ling over your back. It's deep enough for good retention, but short enough you can one hand draw it from over your shoulder.

I had one and it sure was a good lookin piece of junk! When I got it the thing wouldn't feed 357 ammo, no matter what ammo I tried. So I sent it back and they said it would be about 8 weeks. 11 weeks later it was finally here, and guess what, they didn't do anything to it! It still didn't work at all! The store gave the credit back for the full amount and I swapped it for a winchester 94 ranger in 30-30. It feeds just fine. I'll never buy rossi again.

Mine is surprisingly accurate at 50-100 yards. Feeds .38 Special effortlessly, but requires a nudge with my thumb to fully seat .357. Apparently you can send it to Steve Young AKA Nate Kiowa Jones (CAS moniker) and get the feeding problem with magnum loads fixed. Has anyone done this? (Will go to Trail Boss GS in Sierra Vista Friday for sling advice).

I have a Puma 92 in Ruger 480, and love it. Very accurate and smooth. I still have the iron sights on it and I'm confident with it up to 100yds. I took an elk cow last fall with it. 70yds iron sights, one shot through the heart. I love shooting that little rifle. It's small and light, so for hog hunting you can carry it all day in the brush.

Range report after being returned from customer service

Here's a follow-up to my post a month ago. Today was the first opportunity I had to shoot it since being returned by customer service. In sum, for a truck gun, strictly for defensive use, I couldn't be happier with this short little carbine!

The loading gate issue was fixed, no issues there, and the higher front sight in combination with the adjusted rear sight was exactly zeroed in. All of the shots in the center ring were shooting American Eagle 158gn JSP while sitting at a bench at 20 yards.

I had a chance to fire four rounds of the A.E. 158gn JSP at 50 yards at a five inch circle. All were in the ring on the same rear sight setting!

The scattered shots on the lower left was 20 yards shooting DoubleTap 158gn Gold Dots, which now fed just fine, and aimed at the center of the red patches. But, the accuracy of the Gold Dot bullets just wasn't working in this gun. The DoubleTap certainly felt more energetic, but I'll stick with the JSP.

Also, I don't know why people complain about the buckhorn sights, I like 'em - just like my old Daisy BB gun when I was a kid (which I was very good with!) I'm very happy with the purchase.

I have 2 Rossi 92's a .45 Colt and the .357, this is not a bash, as I love mine, but I'm curious if the boogered screws in your last pic were like that when you bought the gun or if it came back from service that way?

Update: I got tired of having to nudge .357's with my thumb, so I took the rifle back to the dealer, an old Montana rancher quite familiar with lever-action rifles. He took it home, worked on it, decided to send it back. Had another in stock that fed .357's just fine and swapped, no charge, Regarding sling mounts, he seemed to think screwing one mount into the stock was the way to go, and is checking to see if anyone makes the steel ring that secures the fore-end to the barrel with a sling mount.

if you find one or any let us know, I'd really like to have something like that on my rig.

Good question, I don't know, I didn't notice it myself until I saw the uploaded photos. But, for what it's worth, I really don't care. I wanted a functional tool that I could depend on when I'm Jeep camping out in remote areas and I feel I've got something that easily complements a variety of revolvers.

I Had one about 25 years ago in 44/40 loved it . Had to find rounds and kept as farm gun . Until found a thompson for sale for 500.
so fast swap

I had an older Rossi in .357 that was a great gun until the extractor broke; took literally years to get a replacement part. I never trusted it after that. Sold it and bought a Marlin 1894C.

Well, this thread paints a picture of a company with an inconsistent quality history. That's one of the reasons I went out of my way to post my service experience with the Rossi. I wanted to buy a Marlin, but when it came right down to it, I couldn't pull the trigger (so to speak!) I didn't want to be put in the position of taking ownership of a crappy gun because of all of Remlim's quality problems. I think if you own it, you're pretty much stuck with it. I've got a lot more confidence buying a Rossi right now, knowing my service experience, than I do a Remlin, and may, in fact, buy another one in a different configuration.

The other reason for me posting about my service experience was my own little way to put pressure on Freedom Group to get their act together. In their hurry to do a roll-up of the fragmented gun manufacturing industry, it's my opinion that they screwed up an old-line, respected, American brand.

Picked up an Interarms imported model in .45 Colt with the 20" round barrel. Gentleman threw in a zip-lock back with about 50 reloads. These will not be shot, but after the bullets pulled, will have 50 rounds of primed Starline brass to play with. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but my 255 grain LSWC dummy round fed and ejected fine. Action is pretty slick, condition is pretty near perfect. Seems like a nice piece so far, and look forward to enjoying it.
