Rotate powder containers?

On a serious note.

I do write the date on my powder the day i buy it.
I do use it FIFO (first in first out for you non-programmers)

I did add a humidor temperature and humidity indicator since I do store my powder in my basement.
51 degF, 48%

If you take care of your powder it should last for decades, especially in the containers they use today.

High humidity is bad bad bad.

I also do the date thing if I know I;m not going to use it up fast.

Strange, I was looking at my older powder today and noticed one of my metal cans of Du Pont PB has a surface rust spot about a 3" circle on the front.:uhoh:
I thought I had a bad can of powder. After opening the can and inspecting it, I found the the rust was just on the outside of the can and it smelled normal.

Hmmm...Guess it was up against something wet at one time????
Inside was nice and shiny.

I'm not sure when it was bought, but it has a price of $5.69 on it.
That was before I wrote dates on powder.
TxD

Me as well. I just use the month/year though.

I even go down to each sleeve of primers.

I write the dates on things as well these days. Didn't use to, so I just have to remember those. Let's see, that was about 18 years ago. The Federal primers in the pic are Pre Clinton, no date. WSR "silver" primers as well.

My folks got me in the habit of date-marking perishable consumables (originally with groceries).

With propellant containers I always place a piece of date-marked tape over the screwtop lids ... that also helps to guarantee that only one is open/used at any time. ;)

I only turn then upside down and shake them when I mix two or three different rifle powders together to load .25 ACP.

To all those who hold Rcmodel's word as gospel, I think....think...that he was kidding. It's also possible that this was a down-home Kansan way of saying "I never rotate powder cans".
