My USP45...

I have put over 9000 rounds through it. To date, only 1 FTF and the only thing that I have done besides cleaning and oiling is replacing the standard sights with Trijicon night sights.

My DPMS AR has about 4000 rounds through it. No problems, but many FTF's in a class. It only did it when hot though.

Quit counting a loooong time ago.

Now, I only count shots until mag or cylinder empty, then restart from 1 after reloading.

I clean when the mood strikes me, which is rarely. As far as I recall, I have never cleaned my varmint rifle. (Don't tell the Prairie Rats.)

On .22s, I toothbrush out behind the extractor and around the chamber mouth, just to keep dirt from cushioning the firing pin blow regularly, and once in a while run a dry patch through them.

More guns, cameras, small boys and coffeepots have been ruined by excessive cleaning than any other cause.

15,000 Plus

My Smith 25-2 has run through way over 15 K - nothing but regular cleaning. I had a good bit of work when it was new but none since.

My Ruger MKII has over 15K, maybe 20K. I replaced the extractor with a Volquartsen, but that's it. That was maybe 5000 rounds ago. I don't even clean it, other than to scrub crud off the bolt face once in a while.

The gun I've put the most rounds through isn't even mine.

I've been shooting the same S&W 41 at club for four and a half years now. So that's 100 rounds a week, 18 weeks per semester, that's 1800 rounds a semester plus 500 more for competition plus another 500 or so for days I just feel like blasting making a total of 2800 rounds per semester times 9 semesters equals about 25,000 rounds. The youngest of the club's 41s is at least 20 years old, and they all get used like that... so that's six 41s with at least 200,000 rounds through them, maybe even 250,000 - 300,000 or even more for the two really old ones. As far as I know none of them has ever had any maintenance other than cleaning and spring replacement.

Kind of a toss-up for me. I can't even guess just how many rds. have been through my Marlin 39M in the more than 25 yrs. that I've owned it. Other than cleaning, no other maintenance at all. Nothing's broken. Nothing's worn out. A very conservative estimate would be on the close order of 35,000.

Both my Springfield Champion and full-sized EAA Witness 9x19 have seen more than 7K with only a spring change when Major Nonte's rule-of-thumb 1.5-2 coil difference in length was noted when compared to a new recoil spring. FP springs were changed at the same time, mostly because they were included in the Wolff kits.

My Dan Wesson 15-2 is another that's seen a lot of use over 30-odd yrs. The bluing shows some holster wear and it's gotten the inevitable small dings and scratches, but it hasn't broken a part, loosened up much nor worn anything out yet. Again I can only guesstimate a rd. count, but it has to be over 35K. Mostly cast bullet handloads in various flavors, and most of them relatively mild (158 gr. LSWC c. 900 f/s.) because they're inexpensive, superbly accurate in my revolver and have more-than-adequate power for most of the tasks I use it for.

My Chinese commercial model SKS has fired more than 10K since 1988. No issues at all.

FWIW, I once owned a Winchester M52-C purchased at an auction from a Big 10 university's Rifle and Pistol Club when it was disbanded due to PC silliness. The log book which came with it documented over 500,000 rds. of use with no parts failures or non-routine replacements (springs; worn extractor) noted.

Star PD .45ACP. Over 25,000 rounds, many of which were +P. Replaced a few springs once. Not bad for an aluminum frame, officer's model size, foreign job I bought at a hock shop 20 years ago.

I've got a WASR-10 with over 7000k never had a single problem. Ammo has been Wolf, Monarch, and Brown Bear

Probably my Mossberg 702 Plinkster. I'd say at least 5,000 rounds. I rarely clean it. I plan on shooting the heck out of my new Ruger Mk. III.

I think you are mistaken. 7000k is 7 MILLION rounds. If you are not mistaken, send me some ammo dude.

I would say I have over 5000 rounds through a LW Commander over many years. It has a Chip McCormick trigger and hammer which have been it it for 99% of the time I have had it. Nothing broken. Shoots great.

Ruger 22/45. Somewhere in the vicinity of 30K rounds with the only maintenence being a thorough cleaning after each range session. About time for a recoil spring, though.

See the oringinal post for clairification. I defined what major maintenance is. Or rather, I didn't actually. Check it out.

Is 'oodles' a number? :scrutiny: I have 10's of 1,000's of rounds through my 22 handguns & over 37,000 rounds through my USP 45 so as a round number total, that would be 'oodles'

My ZX-5 SMG has been know to gobble up a couple of thousand rounds at an MG shoot. No problems so far, after at least 10-15,000 rounds.

I've got about 4400 rounds out of my XD so far, no problems whatsoever, not even a single hiccup.:D
