Thinking about lever guns with tube magazines, and them requiring RNFP bullets or rubbery tipped bullets like Leverevolution so to prevent primer strikes, I got to wondering.
Wouldn't this be an issue with the 35 Rem model 14 pump rifle?
I am going to get a model 14 here shortly and reload for it.

You can use any bullet you want in the 14 & 141 Remingtons. The magazine was designed in such a way as the bullet tips never touch the primer.

Note the spiral grooves embossed into the mag tube..

That tilts each bullet point away from the primer in front of it so they can't come in contact with each other.

However, you will be hard pressed to find any .35 Rem ammo that isn't FP or RN.
Because the other Marlins and such that are much more mainstream didn't use the spiral fluted mag tube.

I have two 35rem's and a 32rem in 141's like said above , run whatever bullets you can fine in them ,

There are those who would enjoy a spiral tube conversion on their lever guns for the enhanced performance. A 6.8SPC would be a great deer rifle.

Some hunters load up spire points anyway - one in the chamber, one in the tube. They accept the first shot needs to be right but the second could be necessary. And another 6 won't help at all.

Not to say Mr Ruger spoke for me about magazine restrictions, but there are plenty of successful black powder hunters. We sometimes substitute gizmos for hunting skills a bit too much.

I am looking forward to a infra red cell phone app . . . If I can still hunt quietly enough and actually see them in the brush.

As detailed, it is safe to run any bullet you like in the 14/141.

However, that does not mean a pointy exposed lead tip will not be flattened by the rounds in front of it during recoil.

Remington still loads the .35 Rem 150gr pointed soft point. That was the original load intended for the pumps IIRC. In fact lots of people have found that RN rounds don't feed well in the 14 and 141.

...150gr pointed soft point. That was the original load intended for the pumps...
In my first Rem 141, with a Lyman aperture sight, there was not enough adjustment in the front sight dovetail to accurately shoot 200 grain CoreLokts.

The Lyman had no windage adjustment, so it had to all come from the front dovetail, and to hit target at 75 yards the front sight was half way out to the left. It shot 150 grain factory loads just fine with no front sight adjustment, but they are pretty hard to find.

On my next one, a Model 14, it was scoped so no problem with sight adjustments.
