Mine would cut through paper easily upon arrival. No complaints on my end in the initial sharpness. I'll put a better edge but am content until it needs sharpening.

I need to roll back my previous comment about sharpness. Turns out, I don't know the difference between a sharp edge and a sample of carpet. I'm not a knife guy like you folks are. I was simply thumbing the edge.

After John posted immediately after, I had a couple guys look at it, cut some paper rather impressively, and yes toward the heel, it would shave hair. 'Dull shaving sharp' is what I'd call it too.

I give it a thumbs up all around, but boy is the thing big. I wanted a good big knife and this one is the first of mine in this category.

Thanks for the heads up JShirley! What a great deal. Mine will shave hair, and has a good balance. Feels quicker in the hand than I expected given the size.

If I take some material off the handle with sandpaper, will it be stained same color beneath? My hand is just a shade small for it to be perfect presently, but suspect that to be easily remedied as you suggested.

Same color throughout. You may need to add some oil to darken it after sanding.

Yeah, the RTAK and Junglas are big knives that handle like fighters.
