Despite the harsh lesson learned at Virginia Tech and the very real threat of future lawsuits, more and more of Virginia’s public colleges and universities have been passing regulations banning carry on campus after Attorney General Cuccinelli issued an opinion that university policies do not overrule state-issued concealed carry permits but properly promulgated regulations, which have the force and effect of law, do.

At that brings us to today’s update. Sadly, last Friday, the Radford University Board of Visitors voted to join this trend.

A pity no one was there to ask the board members directly

"Why would you rather see a woman raped, instead of having the Hope of defending herself?"

If you think not having a gun means being defenseless, then you are a victim already and don't know it. Even many folks who consider themselves to be "prepared" because they have a gun never even bother to get training or practice and most certainly never opt to learn anything about unarmed self defense such they are about as "prepared" without a gun as my 76 year old mother is against a hells angel biker.

Your emotion ploy about a woman being raped is just that, an emotional ploy. Since carrying a gun is going to be limited to 21 and up, you really don't seem to give much consideration to that poor 18 year old that you have now relegated to having no Hope even if campus carry was ok'd, haven't you?

Objectionable thinking on the part of officialdom, but it's not a law which affects gunowners as gunowners. And university officials are not really answerable to the normal political process, absent a lengthy legislative effort.
