Anyone have a copy of the manual for the Ruger 10/.22 action?

I have a Ruger 10/.22 with an Acculite graphite barrel and Hogue stock. I had a trigger job done several years ago. The gun is starting to only fire about 7/10 shots. On all the cases, the strike mark on case is very low and very light on the rim. I need to make an adjustment to fix this, so does anyone have the PDF of the action?

Thanks,
Nels Erik

When you say that the firing pin strike is low, do you mean that it's toward the edge, or toward the center? If toward the edge, a common modification is to drill a hole in the bolt and put in a pin to hold down the front of the firing pin. Then there's the bubba technique, which is to drive a steel BB into the firing pin slot. Or it just might need a new firing pin.

The strike is just on the very, very edge and is very, very light. I'll post a picture of a bullet that didn't fire when I get home. Looking at the design, it doesn't seem like the pin strike location can easily be adjusted, so I probably need a new firing pin. Does anyone have any suggestions? Are they all the same?

First thing to do is a through cleaning of the bolt and barrel face, including the extractor slot.

Packed fouling on the bolt & barrel face can hold the bolt open far enough to deaden the firing pin impact.

Take something fairly soft & pointy and dig around on the back of the barrel and see what comes off.
Bamboo skewer sticks work well & won't scratch the metal.

Two suggestions: clean out firing pin slot in bolt completely, may be crud is softening firing pin blow or replace hammer spring used in trigger job.

Here is one that didn't go off. This is pretty typical. I think the depth of the strike is deep enough, but the position is off. I cleaned the gun very thoroughly last night and it still only fires about 7/10. The firing pin looks stock to me.

I also read through my hunting logs last night and this gun has taken at least 300 rabbits, three coyote, a fox, a bunch of opossum, a couple raccoon and countless targets. It has never given me any problems before. The current problem just seemed to start all the sudden. I generally use the Aguila Super Max ammo since it's cheap and my gun seems to really like it.

What now, replace the firing pin?

Thanks!

Good Day,
I has a similar problem with a Ruger .22 pistol. It turned out there was a cross pin in the bolt (firing pin stop) that gotten a slight bow in it from hard use. On firing, the firing pin would cause this pin to rotate and occasionally the bow in the cross pin would be to the rear and not allow the firing pin to reach the rim of the shell. I ended up making and hardening a new cross pin, which fixed the problem.
Best,
Rob :)
