I installed a new sear and hammer from Power Custom, and it improved my 10/22's trigger dramatically. The parts were about $40 from Midway or Brownells.

While I haven't tried the Power Custom hammer, I currently have a Volquartsen target hammer in my 10/22. Sweet. Lowered trigger pull from the factory 5 pounds to 2 1/2 pounds. Nice feel.

Volquartsen is coming out with an up-dated target hammer sometime next month. It is supposedly lighter in weight and will offer shorter lock time. It is reported that it will also address trigger creep as well. If you can wait, my bet is it will be worth it.

If you have the bucks and want the ultimate 10/22 trigger, these guys are at the top of the field. http://www.coolguyguns.com/ There are none better. Volquartsen offers a complete trigger assembly for $220. Kidd wants $279 for a much superior product. Go with the Kidd if you want the complete assembly or you will kick yourself later. No comparison in performance or value.

It's the hammer and Sear, not the trigger. You can work on the trigger by getting a lighter plunger behind the trigger, polishing the rear surface, and polishing the face of the plunger. The trigger doesn't really effect the quality of the pull that much. One last thing I did was put a nylon screw through the rear of the trigger guard as a trigger stop. Now the pull is crisp, smooth, and breaks with no overtravel.

Volquartsen sells some of the greatest stuff for the 10-22. You are in luck as they currently have some "cosmetic blems" on sale for $20.....I ordered 4. They come without the shims and springs but I am told you don't really need them and at about $16 or so off their regular price, you cannot go wrong. Here is a link to their site...... Here is a link to a RimFire Central Board discussion about 10-22 hammers RimfireCentral.com . Navigate their site as it is a great place for 10-22 information

Before you drop some bucks, take it to a honing stone and polish it. Go slow, don't change the angles and test frequently.

If you don't like what you've done, then spend the $ on an aftermarket trigger.

Follow this suggestion if you want to get some experience tucked under your belt or save some $.

Thanks again to all you guys for your help ! I have ordered the KID trigger and it's already on its way to me . I can't wait to try it . Since I do some serious squirrel hunting with this rifle I decided not to try my "gunsmithing" skills on it . I got the KID trigger because I wouldn't be happy with "second best" .

If I may, I'm going to use a gif I stoled from somebody here at THR

You've made a fine choice. The Kid trigger group is the best of the best for the 10/22. You won't be sorry.

Now you have an extra trigger assembly to do what 4v50 Gary suggested. A good gunsmith can make a factory hammer better than a Volquartsen hammer ever thought of being. Doing it yourself is fun but you have to go slooowly and assemble your rifle frequently to check for safety. It is really easy to go full auto if you're not careful. If you go too far, don't try to salvage a hammer that goes full auto or fails the bump test. Take a sledge to it and throw it away.

Thank you submin , it was your reply that told me what to do . For < .25 more money , I can get the top of the line , it's a no brainer . Until now I had never heard of the KID trigger . My trigger arrived today , but I wasn't home so I'll have to pick it up at the post office (no problem) . I ordered it Sunday and it was at my door Wednesday . That's what I call fast !

I piced up my trigger at the post office today and put it on my gun . I was what I had hoped for and more ! It makes the stock trigger look like something that came out of a box of Crackerjacks . Money well spent IMO .
