Ruger 10/22 mystery part

Hello all, I have been reading these forums for quite a while. Now I have a question for members.

I took apart my Ruger 10/22 today and cleaned it, put it back together, and looked at the towel and noticed a black piece of plastic about an 1.5 inches long with a spring wrapped around it. I'm not sure how this happened or where it goes. Any ideas? I did not take apart the trigger assemble although I guess it is possible it could have popped out. I will include a picture of said culprit. Any help would be appreciated.

It was the hammer strut that fell out when I turned the rifle upside down. All is well now.

I figured I would either wake up to the answer or take some more time and find the solution. I preferred the latter and delivered. Now once the 1911 is cleaned, might have to wait for the answers.
