Depends on what you want....

For "take it out of the box and blaze away", the Marlin 60...

If you like to 'customize' your guns, the Ruger 10/22 is very much like the Chevy Small Block V8 Engine...can run it from factory-box-stock to "un-limited" or anywhere in between.

I currently have a 10/22 and an OLD Marlin 99 with the 17-round tube magazine, and I like them both. My Marlin 99 was a $20 pawn-shop-rescue-special. still shoots very well.

Exactly. Spee-D-Loader has 8 chambers, each holding 15 rounds. (Marlin tube holds 14, so 8x14 in the Spee-D-Loader.) Do the math:

One Spee-D-Loader @ $19.99 = 112 rounds

Ten OE Ruger mags @ $139.95 = 100 rounds

Four high-caps for Ruger @ $116 = 100 rounds

Two super-high-caps for Ruger @ $159.94 = 100 rounds

It might be slightly faster to swap box mags than to load the tube from a Spee-D-Loader, but only by a few seconds. The other side of that coin is that it's much easier to load a Spee-D-Loader than it is to load a Ruger magazine.
