Has anybody ever thought about modifying a 10/22 for say, 25 auto or even 32s&w? In my eyes the possibility is there in the chance you shoot out your barrel (highly unlikely i know) but just a thiught none the less. Ok look my states in quarentine and its crazy talk i know. Dont judge lmao

An interesting idea in these challenging times. Putting aside all the challenges of making a magazine feed reliably, both cartridges exert far more force against the bolt. The only way to reliably make that work is a heavier bolt (a heavy spring alone won’t work), but there isn’t room. Compare the size and weight of a Marlin Camp Carbine’s bolt to the one in the 10/22.

I can’t see it Being a workable plan, but I love the thought process.

Many many years ago Tom Volquartsen was playing around with a .25 caliber case necked down for a .17 caliber bullet. Don't recall if he planned to use it in the 10/22 or Mark series pistols. Remember talking to him about it, some of the engineering challenges and results. This was way before the 17 HMR had come out.
