Off topic, but does anyone know where I can get a Green Mountain Running Boar barrel for 22lr? All the sites I've been to have been sold out. :(

I didn't want to make a new topic.

Fella's;

I've seen fairly recent production 10/22's deliver very good accuracy. But, the new owner didn't just go buy cheap ammo & blast away. He bought a small amount of a helluva lot of different ammo & went to the range & did serious accuracy testing. Once he found what his gun wanted, it shot just fine. I've seen this happen several times now.

So, before you go spend some serious money on a new this or that, do the testing. Then, if it won't shoot with anything, buy some other guy's take-off tube for $10.00 & test that. Odds are way good you'll have a decent, if not exceptional, shooting .22 if you do your part.

Poppeye, in your situation I would go to Walmart. Let's say you decided to buy the one off gunbroker you will have to have the rifle shipped to an FFL dealer, he will probably charge you a transfer fee of anywhere from $10 to $25 dollars. So I'd personally just go to Walmart and pick one up. Also you might have to pay for shipping from the person you got it from on gunbroker, all of the extra money adds up quick.

k I wil probobly just go to walmart like almond said. and maby just buy a scope off of the internet or get a cheap one at walmart.

Or.....try shooting it without a scope first. You really don't need a scope.

king ghidora didooooo i agree with every word you just said. the poor kids been in a tugawar match between 10-22 lovers and others who no its faults for days. its the mag appeil that hooks the young ones.

ok i understand NO 10/22

Is that better? I think the case is closed:

I will get a Remington 597

thanks to all the pursuaders especially HUSKER. Thanks

Yeah I'm glad you went with what you wanted not what everyone says. It will make you happy in the long run and you will probably enjoy your 597 for a long time. Remington makes great .22s or just about anything Remington makes is good quality.
