It's been a while since I've bought a new 10/22. Ruger used to apply a preservative to several internal parts of the 10/22 at the factory. Most people mistakenly think this is a lube. Clean your 10/22 thoroughly and apply a quality lube and it'll run much better. As for extractors, being a direct blowback firearm, I don't believe it has any bearing on your problem. You can remove your extractor and it'll run just fine without it. The only time the extractor comes into play is removing unfired cartridges from the chamber. Especially with a Bentz or target chamber. Just a thought.
