I like the feel of the 22/45. Just bought the threaded barrel model myself a couple months ago for $340 at my local shop. The grips feel really nice, and handles well. Very accurate shooter and ready for a suppressor when I can come up with the funds to get one.

everyone: if i bump my budget up to $400 ( including tax) is it feasible to get 2 used rugers or should i just get 1 new one.

im just trying to weigh all my options before i decide.

thanks for all the help/suggestions everyone. BB

2 is better then 1

i have many thousand rounds out my MKII TARGET only thing i have had to do was change the bolt spring, it started jamming and i didn't notice just how week the spring was till i brought home another MKII that was lightly used

I would go with a new MKIII for availability reasons, plus it's all metal. Even with all the safety features that are pointless, IMO. Also, head over to Rimfire Central and ask around. They have guides for everything, including ones to disable all those annoying safety features, and a member over there sells fillers for the LCI, so if you remove it, there won't be a giant slot in the side of the gun. There are plenty of aftermarket parts for these guns. So, you really could make it yours. http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121040
That's an entire picture thread of people's Rugers. Some nice looking guns, IMO

anyone deal with budsgunshop.com? my lgs has a very used mark II target for $290+. and a new mark III 22/45 model P512MKIII for $326. so...i looked at buds and fond the same 22/45 for 260 and my ffl only charges 20 for transfer. so im going to go this option once i get the cash for my shotgun.

I'd go for the Used MKII. All metal frame for $30, plus the ability to swap out the grips, if you'd like.
It doesn't have what Ruger's lawyers call "improvements." The LCI affects reliability, and is a pain to clean.

my post #6 shows the p512mkiii for $269

The website is down at this moment apparently

Just picked up a Mark III Hunter, It was a joy to shoot and very accurate. I was even able to tear it down and put it back together in just a few minutes
