Greetings, Just purchased a new Ruger LCP. The dealer only had one box of 20 Federal Premium 380 90grain Hydra-shok JHP. The pistol will not chamber the 380 from a full magizine. I took it back to the dealer and he was able to chamber the rounds one at a time. He gave me 10 full jacket rounds and they worked perfectly. I thought this info might be helful. I have one full box for sale of the Hydra-Shok.

Yep!
Grease the snot out of it and:
Fogedabout it until it's well broken in.

If it won't feed hydrashocks, it's unlikly to feed anything much else either.

The Kel-Tec P3AT's that Ruger copied are noterious for being finicky until after break-in.

I've heard too problems with hydra shock's in the lcp. Maybe the feed ramp is a little rough. Personally I think the recoil springs are too lite in the lcp. A stronger spring may help too.

This is no big deal, the mouth of the hydra shock hollow point is too wide for the LCP's feed ramp. You really need to sling shot it hard to get the first one to seat. It will not have a problem feeding the rest of the hydra shocks in the mag with recoil. I have my LCP mag filled with 5 hyda shocks and 1 FMJ round on top. Works just fine for now. Waiting on some hornady critical defense and rem golden sabers to come in so I will not have to do that. Both of those will glide right in.

I broke in my LCP using FMJ bullets - about 200 rounds. Kept it clean and well lubed during the process and now it will take anything I put in it. A bit of patience will help a lot.

Federal JHP's should feed after the gun is broken in. Shoot the hell out of it, clean it, lube the ramp and breech, and then shoot the hell out of it again. It should work fine soon enough.

I've been shooting Corbon DPX and DoubleTaps through mine with no issues so far. I haven't even actually run any FMJ through it since I haven't been able to find any since I bought it!

Make sure you give it a good cleaning if you haven't then get it all lubed back up. Mine had a lot of heavy grease in it out of the box, which to me was a little odd for Ruger but maybe the packaging guy just got grease happy on mine :)

I had a problem with Golden sabers at first. A couple hundred fmj rounds later and it feeds them just fine during fire. Almost any type of ammo won't chamber if I ride the slide at all when I load the gun. Just my .02.

I have fired a little over a hundred FMJs through my LCP with no problems. I had heard about Federal HS not feeding properly. I have a box of 20 and didn't want to burn all of them, so I fired off one magazine and had no problems with the HS. Work the slide, break the gun in, and try again. Occasionally the slide is stuck back when chambering the first round, but it is still fairly new and I attribute this to breaking in.

When I bought my LCP I was disheartened because it kept jamming and I had to tap the bottom of the magazine to get the rounds to chamber. Then I broke it down...cleaned it up and took it to the range. Never had a single jam. Then I bought some hollow points and had the same issue. I hadn't cleaned the gun since the range so I broke it down again and cleaned it up ...feeds fine.

I only have half a box through this pistol so far so my goal is to get a couple hundred through it before I really try to determine if I can carry it and feel comfortable that it will be reliable. I think it will be just fine once it's properly broken in.
