Why do you say that? Or do you just mean this year?
Anything is possible. The bobtail is kind of a niche market.. but... it's growing. Of the 3-4 1911 fanboys I know personally, I'm the only one wanting a bobtail version Commander. Now consider, Commander length vs full size.. Hmmmmm but then again the number of CCOs (4.25" barrel on Officer frame) is growing too.

It is a very niche market. Springfield and Colt don't offer one, although there are more manufacturers offering them now than there used to be. Dan Wesson, Kimber, S&W (with the new E series), and of course Ed Brown (who I believe still owns the copyright on the "Bobtail" name).

The bobtail guns in those manufacturers' lineups tend to be high dollar, or at least significantly more than the non-bobtail version. You can have a good pistolsmith bobtail any gun for less than $200. Usually $150 to $175, and it will look like it came that way from the factory.
