My sister was taking her CCW certification course this past week and she asked me to go and keep her company, so I did. At one point in the course, the instructor mentioned that he knew a guy who routinely carries a gun he has never fired. He then said, noting the obvious problem with that, that they didn't have one Ruger 9mm that worked reliably with 9mm +P. "So if you don't try it," he explained, "you don't know if it's going to even work."
Although his point was well taken, I wondered if anyone here has had problems with Rugers and +P ammo? Ruger builds robust pistols and certainly should handle the hotter stuff.
I've never tried +P with my S&W 659, but plenty of people have told me that it works fine. But it has a steel receiver, and so does the Ruger. If it doesn't work, I told him later, certainly it would be worth while trying a stouter spring.
But what of the Rugers? Anyone have any problems with +P?
