The best synthetic holsters for big bores are these:

Unlike 99% of the hunting stuff, knives and tourist crud that has "Alaska" in the title these were designed here and are made by an outfit in Wasilla. They're extremely tough and I've used them for many years. Don't be fooled by the knockoffs that have sprung up in the past few years.

Surefire, I don't normally question someones choice for a gun, but i have to wonder what the reasoning for choosing that gun for home defense would be? I would think that if you only want to shoot 44 specialls out of it a lighter and cheaper gun would serve as well. In the HD use a short barrel for concelment is not needed.

I would think something like an S&W 629, 44 Taurus tracker or something along those lines would work. +P loads are offered by the ammo makers and finding the right load should be a peice of cake. Magsafe for in the home would be a first choice.

I have both of the above guns and like them both very well. My Taurus is not shot with full power loads much, i mainly shoot stardard pressure reloads and an occasional +P type load with the 200 grain XTP bullets. It recoils like a midrange 357 load. I still think it would penetrate to much for home defense use.
