I expect you will LOVE that gun! I have a Ruger SS Bisley Hunter in .44 mag AND a Ruger Bisley blue (non hunter model) in .45 Colt. Both are really great handguns and are very accurate.

Handloading makes the very versatile. You can do the plinking and small game thumping or go all out and hunt big game with the heavy bullets. Both of mine seem to be most happy shooting heavy bullets over heavy loads of H110. They will get your attention though!

Good luck and have fun!

Brain, I have Redhawks and Super Redhawks, I would like to pick up the SS Bisley Hunter as well. I'm unsure which caliber though. I have revolvers in both .44 Mag and .45 Colt so either one wouldn't be out of the ordinary. Let us know how you like the .45 Colts in it, I would sure be interested.

Very nice looking gun, congrats on your new thumper! :)

I have the SS 5.5" Bisley that was a special run several years ago. 325 grn hardcast bullets at near 1250 f/s do go thump!

I've had very good luck with a newer powder called Lil' gun. It seems to do everything H110 is famous for, but at slightly lower pressure.

Enjoy that Ruger!
