Don't know if this is the correct place to ask this type of question or not.

A while back I received a Ruger Bisley Vaquero, Single Action .357 Mag., revolver. Got someone who wants it. I don't know what is a fair price. These are the specs. Stainless Steel, fixed sights, 5.5 inch barrel, Simulated Ivory grips.

Any idea to put me in a ball park what this is worth in all fairness???? I looked up on the net and it says new suggested retail is $779.00.

Any ideas are appreciated.

The retail value for a new one is about $550 around here. Not sure how much a used one is worth, but I don't think I'd pay more than $400 for one. I have a stainless .45 Colt Bisley Vaquero and love it passionately.

If it is one of the older "Old Style" Vaqueros that were made prior to the now manufactured New Vaquero I would ask at least 50 dollar more because there are heaver ( easier to shoot ) and much stronger than the New Vaquero.

However, if the buyer is looking for a gun for CASS then he/she probably won't want it as it is not as authentic looking as the New Vaquero.

The Bisley Vaqueros do tend to bring $50-$100 more than their standard Vaquero counterparts. Good sporting guns.

I would think no more than $400.

I bought an original Bisley Vaquero in .45 Colt about 3 years ago for only $250. (just love that revolver!)

Thanks guy's. I'm not familiar with these pistols. How can I tell I tell if it's a newer or older model?

Thanks

There really isn't an "Old" Vaquero, just the "New" Vaquero, that why I said original Vaquero.

It's extremely easy to tell if you have an original Vaquero or a New Vaquero. The original is marked "Vaquero" and the New Vaquero is marked as such, "New Vaquero"...

You can't count on published numbers. My 4½" Bisley Vaquero .45Colt is 44oz, even with the addition of adjustable sights and ivory micarta grips, weighed on a postage scale. As posted, the easiest way to tell is the stamping on the side, either Vaquero or New Vaquero. Very simple. The New Vaquero will also feature a "reverse indexing pawl", which lines up the chambers at the audible click.

Easiest way is weigh it. 45 oz is the new verson; old Vaquero Bisley will be closer to 50.

Actually, easiest way is to look at the gun. Enough visual differences to distinguish between the two. Different hammers, different sizes, serial number prefixes...
