:banghead: I have assembled my new model Blackhawk twice and got the same result. Opening the loading gate does not retract the cylinder latch and the cylinder cannot be rotated. I can pull the hammer back about half way and rotate the cylinder. Obviously something is broken or (more likely) there is something wrong with my assembly. Can you tell me what I have done wrong?

I am quite familiar with the internals of the new model Blackhawk/ Vaquero mechanism, and based on what you say, I can't see how that can happen and everything else work properly. Does the loading gate actually spring closed or is it just sort of tight? The tip of the spring needs to be on the gate on the ledge, and the tip can be seen coming up out of the frame and sitting on the ledge. If it is in front of the ledge, almost against the cylinder, it can be pushed down and against the ledge with a screwdriver. When the loading gate is opened, the corner of the ledge pushes down the spring, which pushes down the pin on the side of the cylinder bolt, withdrawing it from engagement with the cylinder.

:) Thank you, Thank you! That fixed it. I probably would have found it in a year or two. Or not. Thanks again.

Not a problem. It's not hard for that spring to be in the wrong spot during assembly, and some guns are easier to do that than others.
