i found one local i could get this week for 500, includes the original box and has the 45 ACP cylinder to go with it. blued steel and 7.5 barrel.

i am a little impatient and wanted a new pistol soon so i can get back to shooting, but the guy said its used ( 500 is the final price) and thought id check up and see how bad hes trying to rip me off for.

you should be able to get one for $500 NEW.

maybe a smidge more with both cylinders.

I just got one form a friend for $325. It only has the .45 colt cylinder though, it is not a convertable. 5 1/2" barrel, blued. I think you can get a new one for that price. On the other hand, a used Ruger is a like new Ruger for a long time, they are great quality.

Seems high to me. I stupidly passed up buying a new Blackhawk .357/9mm convertible for $400. I went back the next day and it was gone.

Ruger does not make the 7.5" in convertable nowadays. Just the 4 5/8" and 5.5. So if you desire a 7.5 dual cylinder and don't want to wait probably not a bad deal. Good guns I have a few .45 convertables, one Old model & two new models.

I just saw a NEW 4 5/8" .45 Ruger convertible for $489 at a gun show. I recently bought a 50 year .44 "Flattop" Ruger Commemorative for $475 out the door. If it is an older 3 screw, it would be a GREAT deal. As is, $500 is not bad...just open to negotiation.....

$500 is not a good deal.

Wouldn't even be a good deal for a 3-screw, unless it was in the box and in 99% condition. I walked away from a 3-screw for $300 a couple weeks ago, but it had bluing wear (and I don't care about 3-screws anyway).

I just looked at Davidson's and a NEW blue Blackhawk goes for $416 at a local retailer. With a cylinder, maybe $475 (not that I think the ACP cylinder is worth extra the money better spent on a set of .45 Colt dies and bullets).:)

i got to see it this morning, its got a set of some white grips an fiber optic sight on the front and a nice sight on the rear with a white border, the dealer "told me" the grips were about 140 bucks....ivory i think he said.... and the sight was worth another 40, its secondhand and the first time i called he told me 500 dollars, when i got there the tag said 550 but he said he would take 500, i did not see any wear or rust, very clean, the grips felt pretty good and i think they had the ruger symbol on them but that may have been the screw head lol it is very nice but tomorrow the new iwanna comes out so ill look there first. if nothing good is in the paper ill see what he says to 450 or 475 but i think id be happy at 500 just so i can get back to shooting:D

1858rem, make the offer and see where it goes from there, if you don't have a problem spending the $500, then it should not be a big issue. You are the only one that has to be happy. Don't worry about anyone else.

People can tell you all day how much they paid for there's, but the fact of the matter is, you don't see one for that price.
Get it and don't worry about it.

but the fact of the matter is, you don't see one for that price.

aint that the truth:(

tomorrow if i dont see anything better ill go back and get it its a very nice gun too:D

anyone got an idea what type of grips they were or what they really worth?

i need too call back and see what he'd order in a new one for lol:evil: ...just to check

If the grips are real ivory or stag that does increase the value. Just make sure they are not polymer. They have polymer out that can fool just about anyone with it's finish. A hot stick pin to the back of the grip well tell a lot.
Ruger sells a set of simulated ivory grips for about $100.
$500 for a like new .45 convertible isn't to out of line. On GB 90% ones are in the 425-450 range.

that is what they are.

does the acp cylinder need the half moon clips?

i called around another shop and found a stainless double action 45 colt ruger, the guy didnt know what model but said it was a "p series"

anyone know what that means?

anyone know what that means?

Yeah. It means he shouldn't be working in a gun shop. P-series Rugers are autos.

does the acp cylinder need the half moon clips?

No. It headspaces on the case neck, or rather the front of the case.

Personally, I see that as a downside. One great thing about rimmed rounds is that you don't have to sweat a few thousandths here or there for them to chamber safely. OTOH, it's not like .45ACP cases stretch much.:)

just googled "ruger p series" and found out its there line of semiautos. i guess "45 colt" is not specific enough for some people must have thought i ment 45 acp, which i cannot figure why somany people think its called 45 colt

i called the first gun shop and wanted to see if he would take 450 but hes like a hundred years old an pretty stubborn and stuck on 500. it sure is beautiful gun though, what sort of holster or carry style would be good for a 7.5" model? just hunting on my own land and plinking. i was thinking an under shoulder kind, are they comfortable? i have a hip holster but the drew is so long, and at 6'5" 170lbs it gives me some trouble as far as keeping my pants up EVEN WITH A BELT ON lol

I've got a hip holster for a 10 1/2" Super Blackhawk. Quitcherbitchin.:D

Seriously, Sportsman's Guide has a neat-looking shoulder rig. Take a look over there.

However, the Ruger Triple-K hip holster is designed so that drawing isn't at all bad. I really do have one for a SBH with a 10 1/2" barrel, and it works fine. WRT pants, I'd wear a separate gun belt. Saves on hip/back pain, too. Asymmetrical weight on your belt can cause chronic problems.

Didn't know about the grips. If real elephant or mammoth ivory, they could be worth $300 extra. Real sambar stag could be $200 now, too.
