This is me shooting my old Ruger 4 3/4 barrel Blackhawk bought new in 1971
Load Goex Black Dawg Factory Black Powder Load. 45 Colt. They told me
they used 37 grs. Black Powder behind a 235 gr. bullet. Can't wait to try my
hand at fanning off five quick shots!

Thanks for sharing that great video. This is the first time I've seen a motion picture on THR.
BTW, that looks like some legitimate recoil.

I've been shooting tripple 7, 23.2 gr seems to fill under 250 gr rnfp without compression. Very manageable. Easier to clean. Lots of smoke.

How did you embed the video?

What is going on around here?!!!

The fella goes to the trouble to do something "kinda different" with an ordinary RUGER pistol, and two of the three responses relate to telling him to clean his gun, or not abuse it?

For crying out loud people.
Do you people EVER get out of the house?

Its HIS gun, and its a cool animated gif.

+1 to the OP!

Good work, and carry on my good man!

Love the video!
I have been reloading and shooting black in my Blackhawks and Super Blackhawks for years, I have never experienced the recoil in the video though.
Cleaning black is as simple as removing the grips, dropping the gun into very hot water, remove after 5 minutes, swab the bore with water soaked patches till they come out clean and spray the entire gun down with WD-40 and allow it to drip dry.

Looks cool, I like it. I have a nice amount of black powder but dont feel like dealing with the cleaning that is involved with it. Please dont fan that fine quality single action, man. It's terribly rough on them.

I have been shooting Black Powder for over 50 years. Thank you for your
concern for my old Blackhawk. Rest assured, it is well taken care of.

Since some of you have expresed interest in my video's, here is a little clip
showing my Flintlock pistol being fired. I'm working on trying to print the video
on paper so you can hold it in your hand and see it, but I'm not quite there yet.

Fanning is Hollywood nonsense that may look great to the uninitiated but in the real world it will destroy a fine sixgun in short order. A particular concern in this instance because Old Model Ruger parts ain't exactly growing on trees and a replacement Old Model .45 runs at least a good $600 just for a shooter-grade example. It would be irresponsible to read the original post and NOT warn against fanning. Some folks don't know, some folks don't care. No way of knowing which it is without speaking up.
