I had a piece of Federal brass that had a defective primer pocket which resulted in the seal on one single piece letting go. This happened with a long time established load, so I knew it wasn't the load, but rather, a bad pocket. And because the Ruger American has a rather weak extractor design, the escaping gases ripped the extractor from the bolt. Anyway, it required the bolt to be repaired in order for the extractor to be replaced. And considering the extent of the damage, I figured Ruger would have replaced the bolt, or the entire rifle. But to my surprise and delight, they actually went to the trouble to repair it.

I shipped it less than two weeks ago, and it arrived at my door yesterday.

And to top it off, they sent it back with the upgraded magazine.

The only down side is that it cost me $50 to ship it.

Great company!

Ruger's definitely great. I've never had to send a gun to them, but when I needed to refurbish my father's Mark I, I called them on the phone, and they were able to confirm the appropriate Mark III parts would work. Then they put me through to their parts department, which allowed me to order the parts for cheaper than they had on their website.

Now, fitting said parts was a slightly different matter due to nearly 40 years worth of tolerance differences, but with the help of a file, a hammer, and a punch, I got it all working again. New recoil spring, new mainspring, and new firing pin.

Yep pretty much sums it up. Ruger is top notch. Of the 3 times I have experience their CS department, I have never had to purchase parts or pay for shipping, every thing was on their dime, but none of the firearms that needed service or parts were 40 years old either.

Ruger CS is top tier. I purchased a 10/22 and the synthetic stock was missing its buttplate. 1 quick call and an entire new stock was on the way free of charge. What makes this case interesting was that as a replacement, I requested a wood stock instead and the CS rep said "No problem".:D

I had a pretty good experience with Ruger CS. I had a .41 mag Blackhawk that suffered a broken grip frame when firing a stout load. After some persuasion, they agreed to fit a steel grip frame to it instead of another aluminum one. The steel frame feels so much nicer in the hand. I have 8 other Rugers that have never had a reason to involve customer service.

I don't wish to pan on a particular manufacturer, but I figure people need to know.

I have an SR1911. The instruction booklet shows that to clear the weapon of a live round, one removes the magazine, racks the slide, and the cartridge ejects out the ejection port. Only thing is, the geometry of this setup is such that the cartridge won't eject out the ejection port. After a little struggle, it will break the grip of the extractor, and tumble out the magazine well.

I asked Ruger to rectify this manufacturing defect, and they declined. I called them twice over a period of a couple months, they declined to fix it both times.

No more Rugers for me.

Ok absurd, if you ever have bad primer in defensive situation you will have to throw that gun at the assailant. Man, good luck with that.

Ruger C S

My first handgun,A Ruger Single Six convertable, bought in 1973.After many, many thousands of rounds of shooting,it became out of time and was spiting lead out the side of the gun.It always shot high too with no more sight adjustment.I called Ruger and they said STOP shooting it they wanted it back. They sent me a shiping label with instructions how to ship.In 10 working days I had the gun back with a cleaned up forcing cone,a higher front sight,a touched up finish, and in perfect time. NO CHARGE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...hdbiker

It's refreshing to hear so many great accounts of Ruger CS. Good companies are the one's that go reasonably beyond the bare minimum, and Ruger certainly demonstrated that for me, and apparently did the same for other's here. They didn't have to replace the magazine with the up graded one, I never even asked them to do that, but they did.

The one particular positive aspect of my CS experience was how quickly they got it back in my hands.

My experience with Ruger has been the same, genuinely top notch service. Nice to see a company in this day and age that actually seems to care about their reputation with long standing customers.

I once wrote to Ruger regarding my SR9C and locating magazines. Lo and behold, a free mag showed up in the mail a few weeks later!

I took apart 2 10/22 mags and just couldn't get the tension right on the spring to feed the rounds. Called Ruger. 2 mags sent free of charge. Even sent me the clear ones instead of the black.
